Food Crisis and Service of Dasoha
In the year 1966, the country was suffering severely from a shortage of food grains due to drought.
Poor people came to the Math in the hope of getting at least a square meal for survival. Realizing the plight of the poor, Sree Swamiji determined to feed them at any cost. He would rather starve himself than allow anyone to go without a meal.
He instructed that the entire stock of food grains be used to feed all those who came with hope, expectations, and in search of food.
At this crucial juncture, Sree Swamiji himself stood in the kitchen and prepared food with the assistance of his followers. He felt immense happiness in seeing everyone leave with a satisfied meal.
Recognizing this noble service, the Karnataka Government enhanced the food grains quota allotted to the Math. It was truly a magical situation then, and it continues to inspire even now.
It was Sree Swamiji’s labour of love and his belief in the principle of “Work is Worship” that made all the difference.
